Fashion: Ragtrade Atlanta 2017

Fashion: Ragtrade Atlanta 2017

I had the opportunity to attend the RAGTRADE ATLANTA 2017 Fashion Week sponsored by Lincoln Motors. Even in its fourth year of production, RAGTRADE ATLANTA still never ceases to amaze spectators, and feature Atlanta as a heavy hitter in the fashion industry.

The week was filled with a variety of events including social mixers, fashion showcases, and designer meet and greets. On day three, RAGTADE ATLANTA partnered with The Gathering Spot to present “Cultivate”, an inside look at the signature pieces from the RAGTRADE 2017 designers.

This season of RAGTRADE featured designs from Kenya Freeman of Sylvia Mollie (current contestant on Project Runway Season 16), Marsha Chin-Glover of NEWDE, Muktar Onifade of VIZUVL GVDS, Natt Taylor, and Tracy Nicole of Tracy Nicole Clothing (whose fabulous pieces I was outfitted in throughout the week).

I loved wearing this Tracy Nicole set because it was so well-tailored compared to the typical tracksuit. The 3/4 sleeve placed the cuff right up my forearm where I would normally push a sweatshirt sleeve up to. The fit through the legs was not baggy, but was still comfortable. The ankle cuff was high enough that the set looked sharp even as casualwear. And the fabric breathed, making it perfect for a trip in an airplane.

Before the runway presentation, I hosted interviews with several of the designers which aired on the RAGTRADE’s Instagram Live before the showcase began. I was able to get the inside scoop behind each designer’s creative process and looks for 2017.

I was blown away by the high production value and excellent designs from the designers. They are each individually inspiring in terms of their story, their vision, and their skills. RAGTRADE ATLANTA founder Angela Watts, the RAGTRADE team, and all the designers featured throughout the week continue to elevate the fashion scene in Atlanta. Thanks for having me!
